Livestock Auctioneers Association Chairman - Alastair Brown

Livestock Auctioneers Association Chairman - Alastair Brown

We are delighted that our Senior Auctioneer, Alastair Brown, was elected Chairman of the Livestock Auctioneers Association (LAA) on 14th November.  Al’s election to this role is recognition of his contribution to the industry and his involvement with the LAA over many years.

The Livestock Auctioneers Association (LAA) www.laa.co.uk  is the national organisation representing auctioneering firms who occupy the livestock auction markets of England and Wales.  Its members handle the vast majority of all auction sales of farm livestock and in addition, members conduct non livestock sales such as plant and machinery, horticultural goods, furniture and fine arts, land and property.  During Alastair’s seven years at Bletsoes he has led the Market team in the expansion and strengthening of the auctioneering services undertaken by Bletsoes.  2022 has seen a huge range of auctions conducted by Bletsoes Market team, including farm dispersal and machinery sales in Warwickshire, Rutland, Leicestershire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

The Livestock Auctioneers Association aims to develop the system of selling livestock through auction markets and encourage businesses to be efficient in the conduct of the sales, as well as ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and meeting legislative and trade requirements.  The LAA ensures the specialist representation of livestock auctioneers in negotiations and discussions with government, public authorities, national and international representatives and trade organisations.

The Chairman of the LAA is a prestigious and important role and the Partners of Bletsoes are very proud that Al has been elected to this two year post.
